Around Us
Farm holidays immersed in nature... countryside and sea, all in one place!
At La Valentina Nuova Farmhouse you might have the opportunity to do a wide range of sport and activities in contact with nature and sea: snorkeling at Talamone beach, trekking and horse riding in the Natural Park, canoeing on the Ombrone River, kite and windsurfing at “Wind beach”, playing golf on the Argentario promontory, biking through Morellino vineyards or fishing tourism along the coast of the Uccellina Mountains.
Horse Riding and Excursions
Vittoria is our equestrian and enviromental guide. With her great professionalism and passion for her work, respect for this land which always surprises, she will help you to pass some time away from the usual patterns.
Maremma Natural Park
Absolutely uncontaminated sorroundings, soft and wild at the same time. The Monti dell’ Uccellina hills, the pine woods of Alberese, the Ombrone estuary, the Trappola swamps , together they create a precious mosaic of ecosystems.
The beaches
The Maremma is wild and so are its beaches. They stretch over many kilometers and are backed by either sand dunes, pine woods or mediterranean maquis. There are only a few bathhouses and several points where you can access the beach for free. Plenty of open space to swim and enjoy.
Saturnia thermal baths
A half hour’s drive will take you to the famous sulphur springs of the Terme di Saturnia. Don’t miss the Cascate del Mulino, the spring’s waterfalls on the side of an old mill, which create small natural pools in the rock. Even in winter the water has a constant temperature of 37°C.
Wind and Kitesurf - Wind beach
In the bay between Fonteblanda and Talamone, only 3 km away, we find the "WIND BEACH", a special place for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The thermal wind can reach speeds up to 25 knots but thanks to the particular territorial conformation, waves are absent within the first two miles from the shore. Moreover the water is shallow up to 200 metres from the shore.
Pitigliano and Sovana
The etruscan towns of Sovana and Pitigliano are built on tuff rock cliffs. They were successively dominated by the Romans and the Lombards. The breathtaking view coming from the curve of the Madonna delle Grazie, is a good excuse to drive there and explore.
The Tarot Garden
The Garden of Tarot is the passionate work of the surreal sculptor and artist Niki de Saint Phalle. It’s immersed in the mediterranean maquis near Capalbio.
The WWF Oasis
In the Orbetello Lagoon and at the Burano lake, the WWF Oasis are located along one of the most important migration routes and are among the main wintering sites for birds nesting in Europe.
Argentario, Giglio and Giannutri
Within a short boat ride you can reach small rocky inlets where you can swim in chrystal blue-green water and enjoy the underwater marine life.
Etruscans and Romans
The Maremma has been the cradle of etruscan civilization. You shouldn’t miss to visit the archeological sites of Vetulonia, Roselle and Sovana. Also worthwhile a trip is the Roman archeological site of the Città di Cosa.
Red wine - The Morellino di Scansano
“He who knows how to taste does not drink wine, but savors secrets.” (Salvador Dali)
The Morellino di Scansano is a DOCG wine, native of the Maremma region around Grosseto, its history is quite impressive and dates back to the etruscan and roman times. We can recommend some excellent wineries for wine tastings and to buy directly from the producers.
Il Cielo stellato della Maremma
If we could see the stars from just one place on Earth, people would never stop going on a pilgrimage to that place for seeing them. – Seneca
Maremma can give you emotions even at night. The near-absence of light-pollution allows you to enjoy an amazing starry sky. At the „Valentina Nuova“ you can just look up at sky and the stars will embrace you!
